We can walk with customers every step of the way from idea to finished product. We design, engineer, build, finish, and install. With over 50 years of combined experience, we’re confident that our team can make creative visions come to life. We value the relationships that fuel our work and are committed to taking the time to deliver high-end products. We pride ourselves on ensuring satisfaction from start to finish.

Over the 10+ years of doing metal work in Maine, we have completed hundreds of jobs large and small. Our excellent reputation has allowed us to grow exclusively from word of mouth recommendations.

Although we primarily work with marine, residential, and commercial contractors, we encourage anyone with a metal fabrication project in mind to explore our portfolio of completed projects.

Our Story

Luke Winne, Founder

Born and raised in Georgetown, Maine, Luke grew up immersed in the trades. His dad, Eric, was always working with his hands, whether it was carpentry, metal work or machining. From a young age Luke admired the process and gained an appreciation for the hard work and attention to detail behind the craft. His passion for metal work took off as a teenager as he spent countless hours tinkering around in his dad’s shop and picking up a part time gig as a machinist. 

In high school as a passionate mountain biker, Luke invented and produced “Dingo Springs” which solved the problem when break pads stuck.

After high school, Luke worked as a machinist but quickly felt the itch to explore beyond Maine. He packed up his truck and drove west, and soon thereafter called Bozeman, Montana home. He worked in residential construction as a carpenter, but soon moonlighted as a metal fabricator taking any opportunity to put his metal work skills to use. He was inspired by the modern architectural designs and spent the next decade honing his craft.

Eventually, Luke was drawn home to the Maine coast to once again work alongside his dad, sharing their love for quality metal craftsmanship. Luke and his wife Mandy fulfilled their dream of buying land and building a home for their growing family. 

Luke started the first iteration of Modern Edge in 2015 as a one man operation. He was back where it all began, working out of his dad’s 16’x24’ shop. His craftsmanship gained attention throughout the Midcoast region and thus began a trajectory of steady growth. In 2018 he hired his first employee. In 2020 Modern Edge Metal Fabrication was incorporated, and in 2021 Mandy joined the family business. Today, Modern Edge consists of a small team of highly skilled craftsmen working together in our 6000 square foot shop located in West Bath, Maine. 

Working with Modern Edge is far more than metal fabrication. It is a childhood dream come to fruition, a commitment to building lasting relationships, and a promise to create beautiful, functional designs of the highest quality.
